Everyday ways to use Mailercloud with AI

Copy-paste prompts for common jobs: campaign results, drafting and checking emails, contacts, lists, segments and account health.

Once Mailercloud is connected to your AI app, you can do everyday email marketing work by asking in plain words. Below are the jobs customers use most, with prompts you can copy. Swap in your own campaign, list or contact names.

Not connected yet? See Connect Mailercloud to your AI app.

Before you start: three habits

  • Name things clearly. "My October newsletter" or "the VIP list" works. If there are several matches, the assistant will ask which one.

  • Read previews before saying yes. For anything that sends, schedules or deletes, the assistant shows you what will happen first. Nothing changes until you reply yes.

  • Start a new chat for a new job. Short, focused chats give better answers than one very long one.

1. Find out what you can do

"What can you do with my Mailercloud account? Give me a quick overview of where things stand."

You get a summary of your plan, lists, recent campaigns and sending setup, plus what you can do from chat and what's done in the app. In Claude you can also pick the ready-made getting_started prompt from the + menu.

2. See how your campaigns are doing

  • "How did my last campaign do? Explain the open and click rates in plain words."

  • "Compare my last three campaigns. Which subject line worked best, and why do you think so?"

  • "Which links got the most clicks in the Summer Sale campaign?"

  • "Did Gmail or Outlook readers engage more with my last newsletter?"

For a month-end summary, use the monthly_review prompt, or ask: "Give me a review of this month's email results with three things to improve next month."

3. Draft a new campaign

"Create a draft campaign for our Diwali sale: 20% off everything until 5 November, sent to the Customers list. Use a clean design with our logo, one big button to https://www.example-shop.com/sale, and our address in the footer."

The assistant designs the email in Mailercloud's drag-and-drop editor, shows you a preview, and saves it as a draft after you approve. Give it your real links and postal address; it asks if they're missing. Then open the draft in Mailercloud to check it before you schedule. The plan_campaign prompt walks you through this step by step.

Tip: to personalise, ask for the first name, for example "start with Hi and the contact's first name". If some contacts have no first name, ask for a greeting that still reads well, like "Hi there".

4. Change a saved email

  • "In my Diwali draft, change the button text to 'Shop the sale' and make the heading shorter."

  • "Change the subject line of the October newsletter to something more curious and give me three options first."

The assistant changes only what you asked for and shows you the result before saving.

5. Check a draft before it goes out

"Check my Diwali draft before I send it. Look for missing links, a weak subject line, missing alt text and anything that could hurt delivery."

You get a short checklist of problems and fixes. The audit_draft prompt does the same. Then: "Send a test of it to me at [email protected]."

6. Schedule a campaign

"Schedule the Diwali campaign for Friday at 10am India time."

The assistant shows the campaign, the lists and the exact send time, and schedules it only after you say yes.

7. Look up and update contacts

  • "Show me everything about [email protected]: lists, tags and recent activity."

  • "Add [email protected] to the Customers list with first name Rahul and city Pune."

  • "Tag [email protected] as VIP."

  • "Here are 10 people from today's event, add them to the Event Leads list." (then paste the names and emails)

New contacts can take a few minutes to show up when you look them up. For large files, use Import in Mailercloud.

8. Tidy up your lists

"Help me clean my Newsletter list. How many contacts haven't opened anything in six months, and what should I do about them?"

The clean_my_list prompt guides you through it. The assistant suggests steps such as a win-back segment, and shows a preview before removing or blocking anyone.

9. Build a segment

  • "Make a segment of contacts in India who clicked a campaign in the last month."

  • "Make a segment of people tagged VIP who haven't opened my last five campaigns."

Segments can use tags, campaign activity (opened, clicked, not opened), and contact details such as country or city. Segments based on your own custom fields are made in Mailercloud under Audience > Segments for now.

10. Stop emailing someone

"Unsubscribe [email protected]" or "Block these three addresses from all future emails."

You see who will be affected before anything changes.

11. Check your sending setup

  • "Are my sending domains set up correctly? Tell me what's missing in simple terms."

  • "Give me a health check of my recent campaigns: bounces, spam complaints and unsubscribes."

If you use Inbox Tracker, you can also ask: "Did my last campaign land in the inbox or spam at Gmail and Outlook?"

12. Get advice

"What's the best time and day to send to my audience, based on my past campaigns?"

"My open rate dropped this month. What could be causing it, and what should I check first?"

When something can't be done from chat

Some things are done in the Mailercloud app, such as building automations, adding senders, uploading an image from your computer, and billing. The assistant will tell you where to go in the app. Ready for more? See Mailercloud + AI for power users. Need help? [email protected]
