Monitoring the progress of your advanced automation workflows and deriving actionable insights is crucial for optimizing email deliverability, engagement, and conversion rates. Follow these steps to track the reports of your advanced automation campaigns:

1. Log in to your Mailercloud account.

5. Additionally, you can preview a particular automation flow by selecting the action dropdown and choosing "Automation Preview." This feature enables you to visualize the sequence and content of your automation flow, aiding in fine-tuning and refining your strategy.

6. It is crucial to regularly track and analyze the reports of your advanced automation campaigns. These reports provide insights into the effectiveness of your workflows. Use the data-driven insights gained from these reports to make adjustments and optimizations, ultimately enhancing the success of your email automation initiatives.

By following these steps and actively monitoring your advanced automation campaign reports, you can make informed decisions and continuously improve the performance and impact of your email automation efforts.

### Reviewing contact activity in the Activities tab

The report also records every individual action your automation has taken on each contact. This is where you find out exactly what happened to a specific person, and why a particular email did or did not reach them.

1. Open your automation report and click on the "Activities" tab. Every action the automation has performed is listed here, newest first, showing the contact it affected, the status of that action, the action itself, and when it happened.

2. Click on the filter icon at the top right to open the filter bar. You can combine any of the four filters, "Search Contacts," "All Status," "All Actions" and "Date range," to narrow the list down to exactly what you want to see.

3. Use the "All Status" dropdown to show only one kind of outcome.

    - **Success** - the step ran as intended for that contact.

    - **Skipped** - the step did not run for that contact, and the reason is shown next to it.

    - **Completed** - the contact reached the end of the automation flow.

    - **Delayed** - the contact is currently waiting at a delay step or a condition step.

4. Use the "All Actions" dropdown to show only one kind of step: "Send mail," "Add to list," "Remove from list," "Delete contact," "Update contact," "Wait for the time period," "Wait till a specific time," "Add tag" or "Remove tag."

5. Select "Skipped" when you want to find out why a contact did not receive a particular email. The Action column names the step that was skipped and the reason for it, for example "Skipped - Contact not found."

### Exporting the activity list

You can download the activity list at any time, and the file always matches what you are looking at on screen.

6. Click on "Export." The export contains exactly what your filters are currently showing, not the whole activity history. In the example below the "Skipped" filter is applied, so the confirmation offers 6,146 activities instead of all 13,010.

7. Click on "Confirm" to start the export. Mailercloud prepares the file in the background and emails it to the address on your account once it is complete, so you do not have to wait on the page.

### Important notes

- The export mirrors the screen. Clear your filters first if you want the complete activity history in the file.

- A reason is recorded only against a "Skipped" row. Success, Completed and Delayed rows carry no reason, because nothing failed.

- The count in the confirmation message tells you how many rows the file will contain, so you can check your filters before you export.
