Mailercloud has an official MCP server at https://mcp.mailercloud.com/mcp. It connects Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Microsoft Copilot Studio and other AI assistants to your Mailercloud account, with 77 tools for campaigns, email design, reports, contacts, segments and transactional email. You ask in plain words, such as "How did my last campaign do?", and the assistant works directly in Mailercloud.

A Mailercloud account. The MCP server is included at no extra cost on paid Mailercloud plans.
A Mailercloud API key. Create one under Settings > API Keys. Use a separate key for each AI app, so you can switch one off without affecting the others.
An AI app that supports remote MCP connectors. Setup steps for each app: Connect Mailercloud to your AI app.
Area | What you can ask for |
Campaigns | Create drafts, change subject, sender or lists, check a draft, send a test, and schedule or send after your yes. |
Email design | Design emails that open in Mailercloud's drag-and-drop editor, and change text, buttons, images or colours in saved emails. |
Reports | Analyse and compare campaigns, see who opened, clicked or unsubscribed, results by email provider, and a health check with next steps. |
Contacts and lists | Add, update or remove contacts one at a time or in batches, and manage lists, tags and custom fields. |
Segments | Build segments from activity, tags and contact details, and change one part of a segment. |
Transactional email | Send one-off or personalised emails through the API Platform, and manage blocked addresses. |
Account and setup | See your plan and usage, senders, sending domains and their DNS records, webforms and webhooks. |
Every tool is listed in the Mailercloud MCP tool reference. Not sure where to begin? Ask: "What can you do with my Mailercloud account?"
Yes. The Mailercloud MCP server includes five guided tasks. In apps that show prompts (for example Claude's + menu), pick one and the assistant walks you through it:
Getting started: everything you can do, and a first task.
Plan a campaign: audience, content, checks and a test send.
Audit a draft: a fix list in priority order before you send.
Monthly review: recent results and three actions.
Clean my list: a list health check and safe clean-up steps.
No. Reading and analysing happen right away, but anything that sends email, deletes something or is hard to undo works in two steps:
Mailercloud shows a preview of exactly what would happen: for a campaign, the sender, subject, roughly how many people it goes to, and when.
Nothing changes until you reply yes.
This covers sending and scheduling campaigns, transactional sends, deleting contacts, lists, tags, fields and webhooks, blocking addresses, changing segments, changing a contact's subscription status, and editing saved designs. Every tool is also marked as read-only or as one that changes data, so your AI app can ask you before changes.
Good habits: read each preview before you say yes (a sent email can't be recalled); say "preview only" when you just want to look; keep your AI app's approval prompts on for tools that send or delete; and check important results, such as a campaign's audience, in Mailercloud before sending.
Build automations (it can read an existing one).
Add or verify senders and reply addresses, or create webforms.
Upload an image from your computer (it can upload from a public web link).
Build segments on custom fields (use Audience > Segments in the app).
Billing and plan changes (Settings > Billing & Usage).
The assistant can do what your API key allows across your Mailercloud account. Anyone using that AI connection can act on the account, so share it carefully.
Mailercloud receives only the requests your assistant makes to your account, not your whole conversation. What you type in the chat is handled by your AI provider under their privacy terms.
To switch off access, remove the connector in your AI app and delete the API key under Settings > API Keys. Deleting the key stops access immediately.
Managing several Mailercloud accounts? Add one connector per account, each with its own name and API key.
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants use other services safely. Any AI app that supports remote MCP servers can connect to Mailercloud.
Is the Mailercloud MCP server free?
It's included at no extra cost on paid Mailercloud plans. Some AI apps need a paid plan of their own for custom connectors.
Is this the official Mailercloud MCP server?
Yes. https://mcp.mailercloud.com/mcp is built and run by Mailercloud. There's nothing to install: it's a hosted server.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Add the address, sign in with your API key, and chat.
Which AI app should I use?
Claude and ChatGPT are easiest for everyday marketing; Perplexity is good for mixing research with your data; Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and Gemini CLI suit technical users; Copilot Studio suits teams building their own agents.
How is this different from the Mailercloud API?
The API is for developers writing code. The MCP server lets an AI assistant use Mailercloud for you from a normal conversation.
