Suppression of email is a process of removing or excluding email addresses from your email list or campaign. This is typically done to prevent sending emails to people who have already unsubscribed, marked your emails as spam, or otherwise indicated that they no longer want to receive emails from you.
Suppression lists are email addresses that have been excluded or removed from your email campaigns. These lists are often created by compiling unsubscribe requests, bounces, complaints, and other data sources.
When you suppress an email address, you are preventing that address from receiving any future emails from you. This can help you avoid sending unwanted or irrelevant messages to people no longer interested in your content. It can also help you comply with email marketing regulations, such as the CAN-SPAM Act, which requires businesses to honour unsubscribe requests promptly.
To suppress a bulk of data in Mailercloud, you can follow these steps:
Log in to your Mailercloud account.
Audience --> List --> Create a new list
Enter list name and Contact type – Suppressed --> Continue
4. Choose upload option and upload the filr from your system.
5. Map the data with attributes --> Continue
Once the suppression is complete, Mailercloud will prevent any emails on that list from being sent to the suppressed email addresses. This can help you avoid sending emails to people who have previously unsubscribed or marked your emails as spam.
It's important to note that suppression does not delete the email addresses from your list. It simply prevents them from receiving any further emails from you. If you want to remove email addresses from your list entirely, you can use the "Delete" function in Mailercloud.
In summary, suppression of email is the process of removing or excluding email addresses from your email campaigns to prevent sending emails to people who have previously opted out or shown disinterest in your emails. Suppression lists can help you avoid sending unwanted messages and comply with email marketing regulations.
